
Belize City- On Wednesday, September 20th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Honorable Wilfred Elrington addressed the diplomatic community gathered in Belize City to participate in the events scheduled in celebration of the 36th Anniversary of Belize’s Independence.
At the gathering, Minister Elrington expressed the Government of Belize’s deep condolences and sympathies to the nations and victims affected by the recent devastating natural disasters. The Minister also presented the most recent activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs including the current development agenda of the Government of Belize, recent economic and political developments in Belize, priority areas of international cooperation, and regional issues. The Minister further expressed the government’s gratitude for the staunch support it has received from its diplomatic allies around the world.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also thanked the Organization of American States (OAS) for its efforts in helping Belize and Guatemala find a peaceful and permanent solution to the territorial dispute.
The Annual Diplomatic Briefing is an important event where resident and non-resident Ambassadors accredited to Belize are briefed on the country’s activities and development. The event has been hosted for over 20 years.
